Baby Goat Who Lost Her Back Feet to Frostbite Finds New Lease on Life at Animal Sanctuary
Creating a world that’s accepting and accessible to all may be easier said than done, but millions of people work hard every day to make the Earth a more welcoming place for people and animals alike. The folks who run @thegentlebarn are some of those people! They take in farm animals of all backgrounds and give them a home on their barnyard sanctuaries in California and Tennessee.
On December 12, the story of one resilient young goat named Lolli captured the hearts of animal fans across the globe. This sweet girl lost her back feet and the tips of her ears due to frostbite, but her world has changed for the better since arriving at The Gentle Barn. With a combination of medical treatments, daily care, and lots of love, Lolli looks and acts like an entirely different goat!

It breaks my heart to hear about how her herd left her behind as an injured baby, but it’s clear that she was meant to find her way to the Tennessee sanctuary where she could truly thrive. At The Gentle Barn, she receives any type of care that she needs, whether it’s an acupuncture session, a cuddle, or a visit with a veterinarian for farmyard animals. She’s even had special wheelchairs and prosthetics made just for her, which prove just how dedicated the animal rescuers are to her care.
“The Gentle Barn is heaven for all these precious babies,” praised commenter Daniella. “They look happy, healthy, and safe. Thank you for everything you do.” I couldn’t have said it better myself! In each and every TikTok video, fans can see just how relaxed and well-cared for these rescue animals are.
Rescuing Farmyard Animals
There are humane societies and animal shelters in most cities and towns in America, but there are fewer resources for barnyard animals who need help or a home. Ranchers often rely on veterinary house calls, virtual assistance, or even one another when a larger animal is in need of help. Not only is it hard to find a vet for a farm animal, but it can also be hard to transport the animal itself!
Fortunately for Lolli, she was just a tiny thing when she needed to move to The Gentle Barn. She was so lucky to be welcomed with open arms, and she’s clearly blossomed since arriving at her forever home. What a beautiful story!
