Golden Retriever Puppy’s Epic Showdown with White Cat Has Viral Written All Over It

Can’t we all just get along? Apparently not. Sometimes siblings just don’t like each other. Like one Golden Retriever puppy and their cat sibling. These two can’t help but get into it. A video shows the two having the most epic fight ever and now people can’t stop cracking up over the way these two are roughhousing.

It’s never easy to bring home a new baby, but when your baby is a Golden Retriever puppy, well — it seems that not everyone is going to be excited by the addition.

Golden Retriever puppy was sort of letting it happen. It’s a good thing that the Golden didn’t defend herself more. Walter, you’re less than half her size!

“Walter is adjusting well to Winnie…” their mom, Mariah Steele, joked in the caption.

People in the comments section couldn’t stop laughing. “My mom: ‘Don’t rile up the dog.’ Me: ” joked one person. “Practicing to go against Maxwell the cat. A true warrior,” teased another commenter. “Cat ‘Yeah, yeah. Take this paw combo. There is nothing you can do to stop me,'” quipped someone else. While one person offered the pet owner a little bit of hope: “My dog and cat are like this, they were raised together. We got the cat as a kitten like four days after getting our puppy and now they are best buddies and will have sibling fights occasionally,” they shared.

Introducing Your New Puppy to Your Cat

Some families are dog people, others are more interested in cats. But what if your family is both? Cats and dogs have the reputation for being mortal enemies (see the video above as evidence), but that doesn’t have to be true! Cats and dogs can get along, but you want to take things slowly if you’re going to bring a new puppy home to your kitty.

Keep the two separate for a few days after bringing your pup home. Keep the dog in a separate room and then give your cat something with their scent on it (and give your dog something with your cat’s scent on it) so that they can get used to each other’s smell. You’ll work up to letting your animals “meet” each other on opposite sides of a door. Again, they’ll smell each other and get used to each other’s scent.

Eventually you’ll get your animals in the same room as each other, but you should keep your puppy in your arms, on its leash, or in its carrier while allowing your cat to come over and investigate. Finally, you’ll let the two meet face-to-face. Keep the visit short and supervised. If a fight breaks out take them to separate rooms and try again another time. Patience is key! Your animals can become besties! With a little time they’ll be nothing like Walter and Winnie here.
