Maine Coon Kitten’s Dramatic Glow Up Has People Totally Shocked

Raising a kitten is an experience you’ll never forget, whether you’re helping a feline rescue or adopting a friend for life. There’s nothing quite like watching a little one grow up thanks to your own love and care, but before you know it, they won’t seem so little anymore! 

Just ask the proud owner of @simbaandpercy! These gorgeous cats are the sweetest siblings, even if they’re not biologically related. Tabby cat Simba is the best big brother to Maine Coon kitten Percy, but I’m sure even he is shocked at how quickly Percy’s grown up. 

Since getting older, the Maine Coon has taken on much more distinct, adult features. As you’ll see in the December 9 TikTok video, he doesn’t look like the same cat!

adult cat, he’s downright majestic. TikTok viewers are having a field day comparing him to different celebrities and icons, from actor Ron Perlman to a Renaissance gargoyle.

“This cat’s going to accompany me on a magical journey, huh?” @aregofitness wondered. It sure looks like it! Maine Coon cats do tend to resemble ancient wizards when they reach adulthood, but that’s just another trait that makes them so special. Cat owners love their distinct, pointed look, and so do Percy’s ten million viewers! 

Some of the video’s viewers admitted being startled by the difference between the first and second video clips. Chelsie wrote, “I know they’re supposed to be super majestic, but adult Maine Coons have always scared me. Imagine waking up to that in the night.” 

A few commenters even compared his intense look to Disney villains Scar and Jaffar, but—personally—he reminds me more of Lucifer from Cinderella.

The Majestic Maine Coon

As much as I love Maine Coons, I can understand why one of these kitties could make you do a double take. They are large cats, and they don’t look like your average housecat! If you peek through any of Percy and Simba’s other videos, you’ll see just how much larger the Maine Coon is compared to the Domestic Shorthair. 

Maine Coons are also recognizable by their unique face shape and pointed ears. Their ears have fur growing inside them to help protect them against harsh Maine winters, and the fur on the tips of the ears can give them a lynx-like appearance. Their strong, square jaw and high cheekbones also set them apart from other cat breeds, though even Maine Coon characteristics will vary from one cat to another. As Percy’s family found out firsthand, you never know what your cat will look like as an adult until they’re all grown up!
